I modified the title to say Our Week- Day by Day, I think this is simple and to the point. I also put my name and the month and year to give you and idea of what it would look like. I then changed the subjects to things that would pertain to a special education classroom. The first box is for the mood the student had that day, then what was worked on that day. Next would be for if the child is potty training it would help the parents know how they did that day. The following box would be for lunch and snack, then PE or Music and that would be for which one they went to and how they did in that class. The last two boxes would be for if they had speech that particular day, and the reminders that I might need to makes sure my parents know. I would also write little notes here too if I needed to. Last I changed the color of the template so that some of the boxes would be different colors so there would be a little difference for every other day. Changing the color I believe will help me and the parents.
I could apply this to my classroom very easily because it has everything on it that I would want to share with the parents if I was sending home daily sheets. This to me would just be more organized and at the end of each week I would make a copy just so I had it for my records, and just incase a parent wanted to bring something up that was on the weekly paper I could find it. I believe this is the best option for my classroom and I am excited to see how well it works once I get to the point to have my own classroom.
Below is the template that I used before modifying!

I really like that this breaks down a students day. I like this better than sheets that have happy or sad faces for the whole day. For example if a student has a bad moment in the morning instead of giving the students a sad face for the day, its just one part of the day. The rest of the day can still be great! I think its also really great that it can help show tends over time!
ReplyDeleteSarah...nice posting here but please include your other template...!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to make sure this is what you meant to do? I put the template I did not modify at the bottom.
DeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteI like your changes. The first thing I thought of when I opened your modified version was Thanksgiving; probably because of the colors you used. Regardless, I think having a planner like this sets the student up for success. It is broken down by the class, the material you need for that class, and you even included a block called "Our mood"; is that to be filled in by the student or by the teacher?
Having a daily planner which is essentially a 5-day/one week planner is very useful; I used to print off a 5-day calendar every Friday when I was in the military and I wrote down everything that needed to be done the following week that had a suspense. It helped keep me prioritize my tasks which made things a lot less stressful.
